Millcreek School District Announces Commended Students
The Millcreek School District proudly announces that six McDowell High School students have been named Commended Students in the 2007 National Merit Scholarship Program. A letter of Commendation from the school and from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by McDowell High School Principal Mr. Timothy Rankin.
The McDowell Commended Students for the 2007 Merit Program are Andrew Chinsky, Benjamin Fontecchio, Daniel Joseph, Emily Miller, Caitlin Mingey, and Michael Skarlinski.
A total of about 34,000 Commended students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2007 competition for Merit Scholarship awards, Commended students placed in the top five percent of the more than 1.4 million students who entered the 2007 competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Dean Maynard said, “This is a very competitive program. We are extremely proud of our students who make it into this outstanding level of academic performance and dedication to excellence.”
