Millcreek Township
Millcreek Township is the second largest township and the 19th largest of all state municipalities, including cities, townships, and all boroughs and is governed by three supervisors elected to six-year terms. Millcreek covers approximately 29.5 square miles. The tax base has one of the lowest mileage rates in Erie County.
Millcreek Township boundaries are best described by picturing the township as an “L” shape. The vertical part of the “L” is best described as: Millcreek’s northern border is Lake Erie; its western border is Millfair Road; its southern border is Hershey Road; and its eastern border is Pittsburgh Avenue. When describing the horizontal portion of the “L” the description is: its northern border is Grandview Boulevard; its western border is Millfair Road; its southern border is South Hill Road; and its eastern border is Moorehead Road.
Millcreek’s Parks and Recreation department is one of the largest community service departments. It offers an extensive, year-round series of recreational programs targeted for every age group.
Millcreek has a population approaching 50,000 and the median age is 35.8. 85.9% are high school graduates; 23.6% are college graduates. Millcreek’s civilian labor force is 9.9% service, 21.2% retail/wholesale, and 24% manufacturing. The mean income is $41,490. Housing has a mean value of $84,489 with the median gross rent on rental units being $387 a month.
The township hosts the international airport, state park, college and graduate school facilities, indoor/outdoor recreational areas, a large shopping mall and several plazas. Public transportation is available by bus.
