A HUGE thank you to the over 100 parents, students and staff who helped plant 50 trees and shrubs on Saturday in 3 hours. Your hard work shows every time someone drives onto our school grounds. You should all be very proud.

Congratulations to Miss Sweeney and MATHCOUNTS participants for being a MATHCOUNTS Club Program Silver Level School and for being one of 10 winners of the Silver Level prize drawing. The team has been awarded $250 for their achievement.

This year’s tryouts for the McDowell Trojans cheerleading squad will take place in the McDowell Intermediate Gym during the week of June 2nd-6th. They will start at 3:30 PM and last until 5:30 PM each day. Tryout forms are provided, and interested students must stop in the office to get a tryout form beforehand, bringing it with them on their first day of tryouts completely filled out.

Anyone interested in trying out for the McDowell boys golf team should attend an informational meeting with a parent on Wednesday, June 4, at 7:00 in the McDowell High School library.

Congratulations to the students in Mrs. Shores’s, Mr. Severin and Mrs. Clear’s homerooms for collecting the most Box Tops for Education this spring. Everyone’s efforts helped our school earn $955 this year. Please continue clipping the coupons which appear on General Mills cereals and many Ziploc, Hefty, Cottonelle, Huggies, Yoplait, Betty Crocker and Pillsbury products. The JSW PTA would be thrilled to receive $1,000 next yer to promote programs for students and staff.
