Attention 6th & 7th grade boys: Open gym for basketball fundamentals will be every Wednesday night in May from 6-8 in the gym.

The year end PTA party/dance is coming up on Friday, May 16th. It will be here at JSWilson from 7:30-9:30. This year the tickets will be sold in advance during lunch on Wednesday, May 14th and Thursday, May 15th. If you buy your ticket in advance, you will save $1.00, get priority entrance into the dance, and be entered into a special drawing only for advanced ticket holders. Tickets sold at the door will be $6.00, so buy your tickets in advance.

We will have an obstacle course, a sticky wall, a Sports Combo that includes volleyball and soccer, and the boom blasters game plus lots of music and dancing. Each ticket includes 1 hotdog, 1 cotton candy, 1 snack bag, 1 drink, 1 game ticket and door prizes. Additional game tickets and snacks will be sold. As usual, school dress code will be followed and student IDs are required.

Reminder to all 8th grade students: Anyone wishing to audition for the talent show on Wednesday, May 14th, needs to see Miss Sweeney by the end of the day TODAY.

Any 8th grade girl interested in playing basketball for McDowell next year, please stop by the office and pick up an open gym schedule.

Any 6th or 7th grade girl interested in playing basketball next year, there will be a meeting on Monday, May 12th, at 2:45 PM in the gym.

The 7th & 8th grade girls soccer team won their last game against Walnut Creek last night by a score of 5-0. Goals were scored by Julie Whalen, Sam Valloud, Amanda Skarlinski and MacKenzie Presta.

The year end PTA dance/party is coming up on Friday, May 16th. It will be here at JSWilson from 7:30-9:30. This year the tickets will be sold in advance during lunch on Wednesday, May 14, and Thursday, May 15th. If you buy your ticket in advance, you will save $1.00, get priority entrance into the dance, and be entered into a special drawing only for advance ticket holders! The 7th & 8th grade girls soccer team played at JSWilson last night against Westlake. The girls won their game by a score of 5-1. Goals were scored by Sammy Valloud (2), Julie Whalen, Mackenzie Presta and Haley Monahan each had one goal. Great job girls! Our last game is tonight at Gus Anderson field at 6:15. Good luck girls!

A 3 on 3 basketball tournament will be held in the JSWilson gym on May 15th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.  See prior days’ Announcements for additional details on cost, rules and entry requirements.

A reminder to the Honors Chorus - there is a meeting/rehearsal on Wednesday from 3-4:30 in the auditorium. There will also be a rehearsal before the concerts for all Prelude soloists and dancers on Tuesday 5/13 in the auditorium from 3:00-4:30.  Please be prepared to bring your c.d. accompaniment (esp. if you have not yet given it to Ms. Stage yet) and meet on stage.

A reminder to the Prelude Soloists:  Ms. Stage is still waiting on cd’s from some of you - please give them to her as soon as possible. Others have not yet picked up your cd’s from Ms. Stage - they’ve been in the Chorus room. Please pick them up at your convenience.

There is information regarding a “Learn to Fly and Take Control” program being offered by the Junior Aviation Club of Erie. Stop by the office if you are interested in this exciting new program!

Yesterday Jamie DiFrank, Crystal Flagg, Brandon Kline, Alex Patton and Evan Wujcik represented JSWilson at the PMEA Bandfes in Maplewood. Congratulations for an outstanding concert!

The girls 7th & 8th grade soccer played a hard game last night at General McLane but lost 5-2. Goals were scored by Julie Whalen and Ali Oathout. Next game is tonight at 6:15 against Iroquois. Come and cheer them on!!

Good luck to our eighth graders on the PSSA Science Test. They will test today and tomorrow morning.

Learn to Fly and Take Control! The Junior Aviation Club of Erie is an organization committed solely for the purpose of facilitating the education and training of school age children between the ages of 12-17 to become licensed aviation pilots. If you would like more information about their program, stop by the office for a flyer today!

Congratulations to the Honors Chorus for a wonderful concert last night at the All Millcreek Sing.   You make JSWilson proud! Our next rehearsal will be next Wednesday, May 7th.  This is when you will receive your t-shirts if you ordered a new one for the Adjudication and plan and rehearse for MOVE UP DAY!  Soloists - please remember to bring to Ms. Stage your accompaniment c.d. BEFORE next Wednesday.

The Junior Aviation Club of Erie will be holding its first informational meeting, and you and your family are invited.

What is the Junior Aviation Club of Erie? It is an organization committed solely for the purpose of facilitating the education and training of school age children between the ages of 12 and 17 to become licensed aviation pilots.

Why is this special invitation coming to you? Because your school recognizes the value of learning the dynamics of science, history, physics, meteorology, mechanical engineering, map plotting and communications through hands on experiences.

Stop by the office for information regarding this “Learn to Fly and Take Control” opportunity. You must pre-register by logging on to www.junioraviationclub.com, click on CONTACT US.

The annual MTSD Middle School Writing Contest was held on March 13th. The theme entrants wrote to was “CHALLENGES”. All of this year’s entries were well written, and judging was difficult. We are happy to announce the JSW winners for this year. Congratulations to all!

Atttention all Honors Chorus Members: A reminder that the District Sing is tomorrow - Tuesday, April 29th. Please remember to:

  • Drop your books off in your lockers - then
  • Check in with your homeroom teacher in the morning for attendance
  • Come to the Chorus Room with your fundraiser forms to hand in to Ms. Stage

The bus is due to take us to MIHS for our rehearsal shortly after 8:00 am.

The Student Council meeting for tonight has been cancelled. There will be a meeting next Monday, May 5th, after school in Mrs. Marsteller’s room.

The annual MTSD Middle School Writing Contest was held on March 13th. The theme entrants wrote to was “challenges”. All of this year’s entries were well written, and judging was difficult. We are happy to announce the JSW winners for this year. Congratulations to all!

The McDowell Lady Trojans will be holding a Skills Camp July 7th thru the 11th for interested girls in grades 6, 7 & 8. Pamphlets and registration forms may be picked up in the office. The McDowell Coaching Staff and McDowell varsity players will be in attendance to guide and teach girls interested in improving their basketball skills. Enrollment is limited to the first 100 responses in each of 2 sessions. The deadline for registration is June 30th.

The JSWilson Girls Softball Team lost to the Walnu Creek Navy Blue Team by the score of 19-11 yesterday. Megan Humes pitched one scoreless inning. Runs batted in were garnered by Kayleigh Means, Liz Freeman, Jenny Karsh, Monica Angelotti, Ashley Cicero and Alyssa Brutto. The girls have practice today in t he gym at 5:45 pm. Our next game is Sunday, May 4, 2008 at 1:00 PM. The game is at the MCDowell field. Our opponent is Westlake. Hope to see you there!
