Walnut Creek Community Council celebrates National Nursing Home Week by providing mini-makeovers for the residents of Pleasant Ridge, where they visit twice a month in the evenings. This was an excellent opportunity for the students to connect with seniors and disabled individuals. Many our our students have expressed an interest in exploring career choices to that end. Several have already agreed to participate as a volunteer in the summer aide program! The folks at Pleasant Ridge were thrilled with all the pampering they received from our students!!

This past week, our Walnut Creek students raised over $6,300.00 for our Relay for Life Mini-Walk and have made decorations for our tent at the July Relay for Life Walk. These proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. The WCMS students and our families should be commended for their civic mindedness and their commitment to our community. These efforts come on the heels of our Pennies for Patients Campaign last month, where we raised over $3,000.00 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
