Sincere congratulations to McDowell’s senior Cassandra Askins for being selected for publication in the August 2021 issue of The Journal Of Student Research. The Journal of Student Research is an Academic, Multidisciplinary, and Faculty-reviewed Student Journal, devoted to the rapid dissemination of current research. The Journal, “seeks papers that are novel, integrative, and written in a way that is accessible to a wide audience which includes an array of disciplines.” Cassandra is an AP Capstone student with McDowell’s Distinctive Scholars Program. As a requirement for the Capstone program, she completed both AP Seminar and AP Research. Cassandra’s AP paper, titled “Corresponding Makeup of the Art Market of Erie, Pennsylvania with Regional Success,” presented a multipronged methodology that compared the makeup of the Erie art market to its economic impact. According to Cassandra, she had always been devoted to creating art and wanted to see what implications the market had on the community around her.
“Art is my passion; thus, I became curious about the art market at a local level. Throughout the process, it was imperative that my research project could create a positive impact on my community. I am very thankful for the organizations and mentors who helped me along the way,” -Cassandra Askins
Cassandra would also like to thank Dr. Jeffery Taylor, Mr. Robert Hodgson, and the Millcreek Education Center for funding her research with CV Suite. In addition to her in-school academic achievements, she is also involved in many extracurricular clubs. Cassandra holds roles such as Speech and Debate president, Model UN president, and Mock Trial expert witness. Finally, she has won many competitions throughout her high school career: 4-year first-place PJAS winner and first-place Future Business Leaders of America competition winner.Read Cassandra’s Paper
