Temporary Virtual Learning Plan 21-22

In the event of a shift to temporary virtual learning for one or all of the MTSD School Buildings, the following plan and procedures will be followed.

Temporary Virtual Learning Days will occur for the following reasons and are pre-planned for the following dates in 2021-2022

PRE-PLANNED VIRTUAL LEARNING DAYS

  • ELECTION DAY - NOVEMBER 2, 2021
  • ELECTION DAY - MAY 17, 2022

Flexible Instruction Days (FID) will be in place in the event of inclement weather or power outages for example. The FID replaces previously used "Snow Days". If an FID is announced for the District or your child's school building the Virtual Learning Plan below will also be implemented.

FAMILIES

What should you expect and be prepared for if temporary learning occurs?

COMMUNICATION

  • The Superintendent and Administration will notify impacted families as early as possible of a temporary building closure using the following communication channels:
    • INFINITE CAMPUS: email, phone call, text message
      • *Please be sure to have accurate and up-to-date contact information listed in your Parent Account.
      • Building closure messages are sent under the 'Emergency Category' within INFINITE CAMPUS
    • MTSD.ORG
    • FACEBOOK.COM/MILLCREEKSD
    • TWITTER.COM/MILLCREEKSD
    • Local News Media outlets will be notified but we are not able to guarantee the information will be shared with the community
  • The duration of the building closure will be shared at the same time as the shift to virtual learning

OFF-CAMPUS LEARNING & INSTRUCTION

  • A commitment to continuity of instruction will be followed by all
  • Students will receive new instruction daily and full-time learning through Google Classroom and Google Meets
  • Teachers will provide scheduled virtual office hours to assist students with assignments and questions
  • If internet access is not available for you during a temporary learning shift, please contact your school building principal to provide additional tech accommodations
  • Materials required for learning at home may be picked up by scheduling a time with the Building Principal

    • At the time of the temporary closure announcement additional information for families who receive feel meals will be shared via email, website, and social media including:
      • How to order meals
      • Where to pick-Up meals
      • The complete process

    SCHOOL-RELATED EVENTS

    • Athletics, Clubs, Activities, and extra-curricular may be rescheduled

    SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL HEALTH & WELL-BEING

    STUDENTS

    What should you expect and be prepared for if temporary learning occurs?

    COMMUNICATION

    • Student families will be notified of the temporary shift to building closure by the Superintendent and should plan to share this information with their children.

    OFF-CAMPUS LEARNING & INSTRUCTION

    • Attend classes regularly through Google Classroom and Google Meets
      • Attendance will be managed through active participation on these platforms
    • Complete class assignments on time as indicated by teachers
    • Use the scheduled virtual office hours from teachers as a time to email questions regarding assignments
    • Materials required for learning at home may be picked up by scheduling a time with the Building Principal
    • If internet access is not available for you during a temporary learning shift, please contact your school building principal to provide additional tech accommodations
