James S. Wilson

J.S. Wilson Middle School PTA

The PTA supports numerous activities throughout the school year. We organize the Scholastic Book Fairs and Reflections art contest, support dances, school field trips, clubs and teams, Academic Recognition, and Character Counts/Get Caught Reading programs to name just a few. We provide financial support to classroom initiatives that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. We are only able to do this with your support! Your PTA membership fee, our yearly fundraiser, and our Box Tops submissions support all these endeavors.

One means of supporting our PTA activities is through the collection of Box Tops for Education. This is a program that provides a monetary reward for each one we submit. Simply clip any Box Tops from providing packages and send them to school with your student. The pod who collects the most wins a celebration!

You can also help us to raise funds just by shopping on Amazon. By setting up “JS Wilson Middle School PTA” as your preferred charity on Amazon Smile, they will donate a portion of your shopping dollars to JS Wilson. Try it out and ask your friends and family to do the same.

The PTA is here to help support the students at J.S. Wilson, but we can't do it without you! Please consider joining the PTA for a small yearly fee and help out our school!

Please consider joining the PTA! Your membership not only helps support student activities and programs, it also allows you to volunteer for events.

To volunteer within the school, you must complete the clearance process:

New volunteers must complete the volunteer application, child abuse clearance, state police criminal record and FBI background check. There is a fee for the FBI background check and possibly for the TB test (depending on your healthcare plan).

If you’ve already completed the volunteer process within the district, you only need to submit the first page (sections I and IV) to the JS Wilson office for principal approval.

All application materials are available on the Personnel page ... just scroll to the “Volunteer Information” at the bottom of the page.

Infinite Campus Portal

The Infinite Campus Portal is a centralized location to access real-time student information including, but not limited to:

  • schedule
  • transportation
  • attendance
  • discipline
  • grades (K-12)
  • payment of fees
  • view food service transactions and deposit funds for student meals
  • notices and news items from your principal
  • the ability to update contact information
  • If you have not activated your Infinite Campus account, please contact the school office.

Volunteer Information

As of August 2019, the Millcreek Township School District (MTSD) volunteer policy includes the following application process:

  • If you’re not sure if you’re already cleared to volunteer at JS Wilson, you can confirm that through Emily in the school office (814-835-5512). You can also confirm when your clearances will be due for renewal (those who were in the first wave of the current process are good until summer/fall of 2020).
  • If you’re already cleared to volunteer elsewhere in the district, you need only complete the first page of the volunteer packet (sections I, IV and V) and the disclosure sheet (available at the link below) and return it to the school office.
  • New volunteers must go through the complete clearance process as listed on the district website... (scroll down to “Volunteer Information”) This process requires background checks that were recently (within last 12 months) completed using the service code provided (which is specifically for Pennsylvania Department of Education rather than for other departments).
  • Please do NOT wait too long for any of these processes, as each application requires approval from the building principal and entry into the central volunteer database.
  • Please understand that these are MTSD policies based on PA state law, so our PTA does not manage this process. We can do our best to help you through the process, as we all aim to support the district’s responsibility to keep all children safe.
  • Please refer to the attached Welcome Letter and Frequently Asked Questions regarding JS Wilson for more information about our school.
