The McDowell Student Council is hosting our 3rd and final Blood Drive of the year on Wed. May 1 in the high school auditorium. To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good general health with no body piercings or tattoos in the last year. You can sign up at lunch on April 24 & 25 or with Mr. Schmitt in room 115 before and after school or during tutorial. As an added bonus, one donor from this drive will win a $25 Hungry Howie’s gift card from the Community Blood Bank! Thanks for signing up to save a life!!

The high school library is closed today - teachers are asked not to send any students to the library.

An important breakfast message for the high school: Beginning Tuesday, April 23, breakfast will only be served in the cafeteria, and only until 7:50 for the remainder of the school year. Again, for the remainder of the school year, breakfast will be served only in the cafeteria until 7:50 each day. The café will NOT serve breakfast the rest of this school year.

Congratulations to the Baseball team on their 5 to 2 victory over Meadville last night. Matt Manczka took the win on the mound only giving up 2 hits in 6 innings of work. Matt Shepard came in the 7th inning to pick up the save. Luke Jackson and Jackson Hower had two hits a piece while Jackson had 2 RBI's to lead the Trojans to victory. The Trojans are now 5 and 1 on the season and take on Warren this Saturday at Ainsworth Field at 1PM.

Congratulations to the JV baseball team on the 6 to 2 win over Meadville last night. The JV team is a perfect 7 and 0 on the season.

McDowell Boys Lacrosse hosted University High School from West Virginia last night at Gus Anderson Field. Varsity won by a score of 9-8 with senior Luke Parry scoring 6 times and senior Joe Althoff (Alt-Hoff) netting the go ahead goal in the final minute of the fourth quarter. The next game is tonight at Gus Anderson Field at 7:00 against Butler High School, admission is free and we hope to see you there!

Attention any students in need of service hours. The McDowell Track and Field Invite will be on Saturday, 4-27 and has plenty of opportunities for anyone interested to earn service hours. See Coach Yuhas as soon as possible.

Due to the early dismissal TODAY, the high school will be serving breakfast in the cafeteria until 9:15. The cafe will not serve breakfast TODAY.

If you are a Key Club member and would like to order Key Club spirit wear, please see Mr. Wahlmark in room 129 at McDowell or Mrs. Cocolin in room 6-200 at MIHS. Order forms and payment are due by Friday, April 26th.

This week is the Semi-Annual Register to Vote week! The Young Democrats and the Young Republicans will be in the cafeteria all week to help you get registered to vote and partake in your civic duty as an American! To register, all you need is to be 18 and bring your driver's license or ID and the last four digits of your social security number. If you have open lunch, go see Mrs. Clear in her room and she will help you register.

Attention seniors: The Student Council is sponsoring a number of $300 Leadership Scholarships to be awarded at graduation. To apply, write a one page essay describing your leadership and service to McDowell and the community. Essays should be typed and submitted to Mr. Schmitt in room 115 by Fri., April 26. You do not have to be in Student Council to apply.

We have two very important announcements for ECTS PM students. TODAY Millcreek has an early dismissal schedule. PM students are reminded that they need to report to the auditorium study hall after 2nd block, go to lunch with the study hall from 10:37-11:07, and return to the auditorium study hall until dismissed to get their bus at 11:25, departing for ECTS at 11:30.

This coming Tuesday, April 23, McDowell has school but ECTS does not. ECTS PM students will have East/West buses departing McDowell at 11:30. Please stop in the main office if you have any questions about transportation for next Tuesday.
