Melissa's Fund Scholarship

The Millcreek Education Foundation does an annual distribution to the MTSD Pre-K Program to support families that may or may not meet the financial eligibility requirements for EITC or Pre-K Counts.  For example, the Pre-K Directors may choose to use the funds to help a family that recently lost a job or had a medical emergency. Right now, the annual distribution is $500.

The MEF Melissa’s Fund was established in 2006, to honor the life of Melissa Appletree Talasky, a 1991 McDowell graduate and an early childhood educator in the Millcreek Township School District. Melissa’s family, friends, and colleagues set up the fund to support MTSD Pre-School families with scholarships and other support for the classroom.
