The Millcreek Township School Board Directors recognize the importance of transparent and consistent communications amongst all stakeholders in the District. If a student, parent/guardian, District staff member, or member of the Millcreek community wishes to contact a Director, please use the indicated email addresses listed below. A Board member will acknowledge receipt of the email to the sender and notify the sender within seventy-two (72) hours of receipt that an appropriate response will be provided by the School District administration, the Superintendent, or the School Board as applicable.

Email Gary Winschel 

Mr. Gary J. Winschel was born and raised in Erie and has resided in Millcreek for the past 28 years with his family. Mr. Winshcel is a Certified Financial Planner and has been with Financial Freedom Investment Management Group since 2016 since previously dedicating 33 years to PNC Financial Services as a Senior Vice President & Regional Manager for NWPA for PNC Investments.

Mr. Winschel attended Gannon University and is a current Board member of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Erie and serves as a member of the Investment Committee for the Sisters of St. Joseph of NWPA.

Email Michael Lindner 

Mr. J. Michael Lindner has dedicated the past 20 years to Penn State University, having served in various roles at the Behrend, Shenango, and University Park campuses. Mr. Lindner in his current role as the Director of Housing and Food Services at Penn State Behrend and Shenango for the past 10 years maintains responsibility for 19 on-campus residence halls and apartment buildings, 7 food-service operations, and more than 350 full- and part-time employees. A native of Ocean City, NJ and current Millcreek Township resident, Mr. Lindner holds a MBA from Penn State with significant experience in business management, construction management, facility management, team-building, and emergency management planning.

Mr. Lindner volunteers as an advisor to Penn State Behrend THON student organization and dedicates his time to his wife and two elementary children in the district.

What do you love about Millcreek Township Schools?

Email Sue Ellen Pasquale 

Sue Ellen Pasquale was born in Erie PA and has lived in Millcreek Township for 35 years.  All three of her children attended Asbury, Walnut Creek and McDowell schools.  She currently has a granddaughter at Asbury school.  Mrs. Pasquale is retired but spent 36 years working for the County of Erie with her last position being Manger of Accounting.  She currently is a board member of the Erie County Retirees' Association serving as treasurer, and spent many years as a volunteer with the Asbury PTA.

What do you love about Millcreek Township Schools?

  • I love that all children in the district have access to a good education, guided by caring and dynamic teachers, that prepares them for wherever life takes them.

Email Jason Dean 

Mr. Jason Dean has dedicated his career to designing and manufacturing locomotives as a Senior Systems Engineer with Wabtec Corporation (Formerly General Electric) for the past 25 years. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Mr. Dean moved to Erie in 1990 to attend Gannon University, graduating with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering '95 and a Masters of Science in Engineering '97.

In addition to his service on the MTSD Board (December 2019), Mr. Dean volunteers with the Booker T. Washington Center, Experience Children's Museum, Presque Isle State Park, coaches MYAA basketball and baseball and. is married with three children, all attending MTSD between 6th and 11th grades.

Email Shirley Winschel

Ms. Shirley Winschel grew up, attended school, and then taught throughout her 37 year career in Education all in Erie & Millcreek, PA. Throughout the majority of her career, Ms. Winschel was a dedicated 7th grade mathematics teacher and department chairman of mathematics at the middle school level, 27 years with Millcreek Township School District.

Ms. Winschel began serving on the Millcreek Township School Board in December 2019, as well as volunteers with the Highmark Caring Place and St. Patrick's Church.

What do you love about Millcreek Township Schools?

  • I LOVE the students, teachers, and parents of this school district. I have met some of the most outstanding people and their families while working in Millcreek.

Email Janis Filbeck  

Janis Filbeck was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She and her husband moved their family to Millcreek Township in 2006.  Mrs. Filbeck is a  teacher turned stay-at-home mother turned teacher who began her teaching career 33 years ago in the Forest Hills School District in Cincinnati, Ohio where she taught  2nd grade for five years. For the next fourteen years, she stayed at home with her three sons and earned two graduate degrees to sharpen her skill set as it was her intention to return to the classroom.   In 2008,  the Millcreek Township School District hired her to serve as a Title I Reading Specialist, and then she moved into a 3rd-grade classroom.  Since 2016, she has taught Rhetoric and Composition at Penn State Behrend and in 2022 joined the faculty of Erie Day School teaching Middle School English. Currently, Mrs. Filbeck serves on the Membership Committee for the Erie Women’s Fund. Mrs. Filbeck was elected to MTSD School Board in 2021. 

What do you love about Millcreek Township Schools?

  • The people-I love the creative spirit and passion that embodies the students, teachers, and families of Millcreek as they embrace the many learning opportunities that await them both inside and outside of the classroom. MTSD has a robust menu of curricular and extracurricular activities that engage community members. It is an exciting place to live and learn!

Email Sallie Newsham 

Sallie Newsham has lived in Millcreek since 1993. Mrs. Newsham grew up in Millcreek until 5th grade and then her family moved to Fairview. Her husband, son, and daughter-in-law are all graduates of McDowell High School. She is a graduate of Penn State University with a degree and Special and Elementary Education. In addition, she has completed graduate credits at Gannon in Counseling. She retired in June of 2020 after 39 years of teaching. 34 of those years were in Millcreek in special education and 6th grade Math and she now is a volunteer at the Highmark Caring Place.vMrs. Newsham was elected to the MTSD School Board in December of 2021.

What do you love about Millcreek Township Schools?

  • Millcreek is a great place to work and raise a family.  Throughout my career I met and worked with some of the very best people and families.

Email Wade Brink 

Mr. Wade Brink, a Franklin, PA native, has lived in Millcreek for the past eight years with his family. He has two sons who will both attend school in the district. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Campbell University. Mr. Brink has over ten years of Executive Management experience within the Credit Union industry and is currently the CFO at Tendto Credit Union. In addition to being on the MTSD Board, Mr. Brink enjoys traveling with his wife, coaching youth hockey and baseball, and playing golf with his sons.
