Health Reminder & Information Regarding Measles in PA

Dear MTSD Families and Staff,
 
With the recent uptake in measles cases in Pennsylvania, we wanted to share a quick health reminder to help keep our school community informed and prepared.
 
Measles is a highly contagious illness that can spread quickly in schools and community settings. Maintaining up to date vaccinations is one of the best ways to help prevent the spread of measles and protect those who may be more vulnerable to serious illness.
 
If we were to have a confirmed measles case involving a student or staff member, the Erie County Department of Health would assist and provide any necessary recommendations.
 
If you are unsure of your MMR vaccination status, please consider checking your records or contacting your healthcare provider. 
 
Individuals who are unvaccinated and exposed to measles may be excluded for up to 21 days.
 
Important information for student families:
•             Students who have an approved vaccination exemption may be excluded from school in the event of a measles outbreak or exposure, based on guidance from the Erie County Department of Health.
•             Families can review their student’s school vaccination records through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
•             If you have questions about your student’s vaccination status or immunization history, please contact your child’s healthcare provider.
•             If your student receives an updated vaccination, please provide the school nurse with documentation to keep school records current.
